Marcus Stroman makes his last rehab start tomorrow night for the Buffalo Bisons.  It is also the last day of the AAA season for the Bisons as they won't advance to the postseason.  He's projected to take Buehrle's start on Saturday against the Yankees.

Well, pretty much nothing went the Jays way that game.  Red Sox have been better than their record indicates lately too.

The only thing I don't really care for is the use of Ryan Tepara.  He's a September call up and depth in the bullpen.  A 5-2 games probably wouldn't be my threshold for bringing him into the game.

Loup's been a sack of crap all year too. Not the best combo to bring in early in the game when down 4 and hopes of a comeback.

Would have been nice to have gotten help from Baltimore today. As much as I love seeing their demise, I thought they were way better than this.

Stroman has been called up along with Delabar and International League MVP Matt Hague!

Nathan Eovaldi (14-3) out 2 weeks for the Yankees so hopefully that slows them down somewhat, although they haven't missed a beat with Tex's bat out of the lineup.

Jays win 5-1 in 10-innings.  Yankees lost 2-1 after Chris Davis mashed a home-run in the 9th inning of Chasen Schreve.

MLB.com now has the Jays post-season chances at 100%

Pretty hard to argue looking at the numbers: 24 games to go and up 8 in the loss column...no way this team misses the playoffs with that cushion.

As for the division this weekend's rumble in the Bronx will go a long way in sorting that race out, but I still like the Jays chances. At some point all the injuries combined with a less talented roster have to catch up to the Yankees right?

Glad the Jays came through in the 10th, but it was pretty frustrating watching some of the at-bats earlier in the game. I think it was Colabello who struck out on ball four that would have loaded the bases with 1 out and instead the Jays came up empty. I didn't like not putting in a pinch runner for Martin when he walked pinch-hitting either...could have had Pompey stealing a bag or two out there. Oh well it all worked out for the best!

Although it did work out nicely when they put Pompey in for Encarnacion and he scored from second on a single.  I really don't know why he he hasn't been put in the game as a pinch player a little more.  His speed is fantastic.  I'd really like to see him in the game over Carrera.  Not sure I get the point of that.  Pompey is a better defender.

Typical Hutchison road start  :P

Certainly a candidate to lose his spot in the rotation to Stroman now that he has pitched poorly in back to back starts.

Hutchison needs to be fired out of a cannon directly into the sun.  I'm not entirely sure why Gibbons let him out for the 4th inning after he was awful in the 3rd.  He pitched to two batters and gave up another run off two doubles and then he got pulled.  To me, Hutch clearly didn't have it right from the start as every at bat was a struggle and it looked like he was missing Martin's frame on nearly every pitch.  So it really should have been a situation where the Jays went for a comeback and pulled him in a 4-1 game or left him in to be a sacrificial lamb.  Even though they just burned through the scrub arms in the bullpen it just seemed like an odd decision to me.

The offence has been drying up since the Tigers series. To me everyone had really poor approaches to their at bats. This whole series it seemed like everyone was just trying to crank every pitch over the monster. The middle of the order is a black hole right now with Tulowitzki and Martin, the latter barely looking like a major league hitter at times.

As bad as Hutchison was, and that's really really bad, it's to be expected at this point. The guy clearly has no business being in the big leagues but the Jays don't have any better options and the jury is still out on Stroman. The offence is more concerning for me. They've picked a really bad time to all go south.
