PWHL

Not sure if this is the proper discussion to place this. But I'm watching the PWHL for the first time. I hope that the league becomes very successful as I've enjoyed the ladies playing on the world stage.

Going to be an interesting case study to see the viability and sustainability of the league once the novelty and initial excitement from the league starting up wears off.  Not convinced the league will be able to survive for the long term.

Regardless, wish the league and its members success.  Young hockey playing girls in particular now have people to look up to and aspire to be like, and a league to strive to play in down the road.

I'm hoping to catch some games. The rules are exactly what I'd like to see in the NHL. There's really no need for open-ice hitting.

Also, a short handed goal wiping out a penalty is a great rule, and that was fun to see in the Toronto vs New York game the other day.

They used this on the European champions hockey league. I think it?s a great rule. They also had a minor lasting the full 2 minutes which I was a bit more 50/50 on.

I?ve caught parts of a few games. It?s a very good standard and very watchable.

Interesting all the players are in full face cages. Yet another rule I?d like to see brought across.

I'm going to Ottawa end of March to catch a game (against Toronto). Really looking forward to it!

I don't understand the point of the these PP rules,

A SH goal ending a penalty seems like a gimmick.

IMO special teams already have too much of an impact on the game, especially with how inconistent penalty calls are in this sport. I think multiple goals on a minor penalty just makes that problem worse.

Ya, I'm not a fan of that rule. I understand it might persuade the PK to be more aggressive, but it rewards an offending team and that doesn't make sense.

I just started watching the PWHL too, and I'm really enjoying it! The pace and skill of the players remind me of the intensity I've seen in international tournaments. It?s exciting to see women's hockey getting more attention.
