Well, really, it comes down to this - the crux of the issue is either that the players aren't good enough or the way the coach is using the players isn't good enough. Replacing the players is a long and difficult process, whereas replacing the coach is relatively easy. So, before you go down the long and more difficult road, you make the easy change and see what kind of impact that has. Firing Carlyle isn't necessarily the solution, but, as far as I'm concerned, it's the first step towards figuring out what the solution may be.
