Leafs Acquired Raddysh [8 years, $8.5mil AAV]

Obviously a big gamble with lack of track record but hard to argue with a right shot D coming off a point per game season. Sounds like less than $10m season.

I know there's still a long way to go, and I've gone from being skeptical about Chayka to now kinda liking the cut of his jib.

I really don't see what's wrong with re-tooling, which I think was made easier by getting the 1st overall pick. The team, I truly believe, was better than what we saw last season.

Anyway, depending on what was they give up, I'm kinda cool with this.

As I mentioned in the general thread when this was not fully confirmed yet, 8.5M by 8 yrs is a touch higher but nearly equivalent to the Damon Severson 8 x 6.25M AAV signed with CBJ in 2023
 
We'll have to see how this plays out. Could be shades of David Clarkson, or it could be just the type of Dman the Leafs need to unlock the power play. Won't know if this is good or not till the season starts.

My hope is that because of the analytics side, they have reason to believe that last season was not a fluke

I'm mean not really. I'm not expecting 70 points and 20+ goals, but for someone his age, he doesn't have alot of miles on him, and if he can hover around 10+ goals and 50ish points I'm happy.

Clarkson was a ridiculous outlier season. I think back then almost none of us around here wanted anything to do with him.
 
Love it. I was starting to expect closer to $10mil. 8 years is obviously a lot but you know what at my age now (and likely everyone else's) I'm starting to come around to Nonis' "I'm not worried about year 7" comment. Every contract is moveable so if it comes to that we'll worry about it then. For now we have the puck-moving defenceman with a bomb of a shot that this team has been missing since well before the Matthews era even started.

Yeah, 10 goals and 50's in point. QB PP and top RD.
