Leafs Acquire ROR and Acciari

https://twitter.com/MapleLeafs/status/1626791249310060545

At first glance this seems pretty solid for the Leafs.

I like it. It strengthens out top 6 and also our bottom 6. Kampf will be our 4th line centre now. Leafs have depth up the middle for sure.

Holy crap!!!!  75% retained.  It's assets but that's huge.

Acciari helps the scoring depth in the bottom six (Kerfoot moving down also does that).

They also only take on 3.5M in cap hit with this trade so in theory after factoring in LTIR they still have room to add (but also don't really have assets to trade)

ROR is obviously the big one here but Acciari is a pretty interesting piece as well. We've certainly got C depth up the wazoo at this point. Wonder where everyone ends up playing.

You have to go for it. You can't sit back forever. I really like this deal honestly. Wish Abramov well but I didn't see him amounting to much.

Pretty impressive Dubas was able to pull this off without losing anything off the roster.  Keeping Kerfoot and Holmberg - two names who have been involved in rumours - is great.  Bottom six instantly strengthened big time.

But wait!  There?s more!

?Right-wing prospect Josh Pillar will go from Minnesota to Toronto to complete the trade.? - per Sportnet

*Sigh*

I get that 90's nostalgia is in these days but I was sort of hoping we'd skip the "Draft, Schmaft" part of it.

At the same time, if you don't go for it now then when? Hopefully when we rebuild again our picks are like #5 and not #25.

This will make it 4 of the last 5 drafts where they haven't had a 1st round pick. They've been "going for it" every year.

I like it: it?s pretty light in terms of asset ceiling, and raises the roster?s floor significantly.

Maybe this will be another Foligno debacle but it seems like a much better bet.  Sticking a Conn Smythe winner on your roster is appealing.

Just like the reaction here was overwhelmingly positive to the Foligno deal, every addition seems great when it's weighed against nothing.

And I want them to go for it every year.
