That's because he is a douche. I stopped listening after he called Kadri 'buddy'.

They're right, he made the whole thing awkward with his stupid jokes and dumb questions.

That's actually what happened. It seemed fine to me. However, there were a couple of times though "he" still feels he's this or that as opposed to whatever the team wants...imo.

I thought some of the questions were not easy. Kadri prefers to play center "How does it feel to have your GM say you don't have the game to play center and he's sticking you on the wing?" (paraphrased and the question wasn't presented that harshly/bluntly but the gist of it required an answer with some delicacy so he doesn't get into a problem with his GM/coach yet gets out of it with his self respect still intact)

"What it's like to get sent down with the whole city knowing you can't cut the mustard in the NHL?" (again somewhat harshly paraphrased by me)

This is big time sports paying him big bucks so I don't feel they were grossly unfair questions. But put yourself in Kadri's boots - ignoring his paycheque. It wasn't the easiest interview for a 20 yr old live on the air. I'm sure the fire in this kid has him trying his best and when he's come up short of where he thought he'd be, even he is probably still trying to find those answers within himself - but is in a spot where he must recite these answers live on the air. Speaking to the media is tough enough for experienced people when everything is going their way. I felt for him a little.

I don't know,  I always get that players get paid millions and should be able to handle the media, but I'd be pissed off if someone walked up to me and asked me some of the questions that they do.  I also enjoy that they usually reserve those questions for people that are either young (rookies/unestablished players) or are vilified by the general public.  You don't see them walking up to Mike Modano and asking "You had a great career, but can you explain why you sucked so much for Detroit last year.  Everyone knows you are a hall-of-fame player known for your great two-way play, but you were really bad, everyone knew it, and maybe you should have retired a year earlier?"

Some of their questions were goofy but I didn't hear any that should really tick Kadri off in this interview. They kind of left him an out asking how it feels, etc in a lot of it and tried to keep it fairly cordial and light in tone. Yet they weren't all easy questions for a kid struggling to make it.

I agree that there are a lot of dumb questions asked by sports media and overall, the hockey media in Toronto isn't as good as the non playoff hockey product MLSE has put on the ice. It's been that way for decades in Toronto.
