It's quite the dichotomy. Carolina is the team that has been branded the "Bunch of Jerks." Boston is the team that's actually filled with a bunch of jerks.

I would love to see Carolina win this series.. But I think Boston wins in 6...
Remember folks, by cheering for Carolina you're going against Don Cherry on two different fronts.

I despise both Eastern conference teams left. I am with Cherry, a hockey team from Carolina? Really? Jerks is right. And another stupid team from Boston going deep into the playoffs.
I am so salty about losing still. Friggin CLB, CAR path to the Stanley! OMG, I'm so pissed. What an opportunity pissed away.

Fair enough. But for what it's worth I don't think my objection was just about pedantry. "Should there be a hockey team in the Carolinas" or "North Carolina" is different than whether or not there should be a team in Raleigh-Durham.
Especially in light of this year's Cherry/Hurricanes controversy. I'm pretty emphatically Team No One on that issue but I do think we're kind of seeing one of the problems with the Hurricanes schtick. People like to say that hockey should break out of it's hyper-regionality by virtue of the awesome quality of the hockey in the playoffs but if you're really jazzing fans up with goofy fun antics then what happens when those antics aren't there anymore and all you're left with is the hockey that failed to draw a crowd in the first place.
