Worth mentioning with that high a price tag that Coburn's not a rental. He's got a year left. That said, I don't think he's particularly good so I might be back to square one there.

It's definitely a high price. I'd say he's probably a good #3 guy. The Flyers have the following defencemen under contract for next season: Streit, MacDonald, Schenn, Grossman, and Schultz. So that's a 36/37 year old and a bunch of bottom-pairing guys.

The Flyers collection of defensemen has, and remains, one of the funnier things in the league.

Still, hats off to them. They're doing what the Leafs should have done multiple times in the last decade. They're theoretically "in it" but know that they're still better off cashing in on what assets they can.
