Bullpen concerns

Don't you think Gibby hangs on to his starters far to long?  It was evident with Stroman last night that he was done with the first batter in the 7th yet Gibby doesn't pull him.  Also whats happened to Cecil, last year he dominated, this year is like he is throwing balloons.  Who thinks Sanchez should come back to the pen as the set up to Osana?  Hutch threw a pretty good game the other day and Sanchez could translate into more wins as a set up to Osana.

I'm not sure you were quite paying attention last night. Stroman came into the 7th with 80 pitches thrown. The 1st batter hit a weak grounder past EE (that Smoak, imo, would have easily had). He gave up another weak grounder between 2nd and 1st that went through because the 2nd baseman was covering 2nd. Lawrie hit into a fielder's choice that was almost a double play and Navarro hit into a perfect double play that was negated because it deflected off of Stroman's elbow and went straight up in the air. This latter shot to the elbow is what took Stroman out of the game, as he walked the next batter (no. 9 hitter) on 4 straight fastballs and was visibly hampered by the elbow. Gibbons, who I think is an atrocious manager, mind you, handled the inning perfectly.

You don't want to turn Sanchez into a one inning pitcher. Also, his name is Osuna.

Thanks for the correction, but what about Cecil, doesnt look like he got his mojo back

It's a bad stretch. Relievers have them. Cecil had one last year.

Last night's loss was brutal on the bullpen, which has struggled on and off this season.  The truth is that the Jays aren't really operating at top capacity -- Donaldson sore legs, Saunders sore hamstrings, Martin's neck problems -- and now that hit off of Stroman's elbow.

No one's panicking yet.  It's a long season and no one expects to feel a hundred percent at all times.  Same can be said about the bullpen.  For some reason, even to the Jays, many variables have happened in games this year.  Last night was one of those -- a  chopper hitting Tulo on his leg while running to second, the hit off Stroman's elbow, and of course, the bullpen imploding.

Gibbons:
?I had Cecil up but I wasn?t in a hurry to take (Stroman) out,? Gibbons said of bringing in his lefty. ?But when he gets hit and he?s not even close to the plate, you go, ?OK, maybe something?s there,? and it was really set up for Cecil to do his thing.

?We?re going to need him, let?s be honest,? Gibbons added later. ?We?ve got to get him to get sharp, he needs to find it. With two strikes he wasn?t able to bury it, that?s what he does normally, it just kind of sat there for Eaton.?

Still very early. As Nik stated, Cecil was awful to start the season last year. If it's near the halfway point and Cecil and Storen are still struggling then maybe we can start worrying about the mojo ;)

I don't know what it is but the energy is hurting, this Colabello thing is not helping the collective Psyche perhaps.

And Dickey is Dickey, like a box of knuckleball chocolates, you always know what you are going to get.
