It's a shame Matt Benning is hurt because you gotta think the door would be wide open for him to get another NHL shot if he wasn't.

Why? They didn't use him when Laughton was out before. Don't see why this would be different.

Villeneuve for me. They need a right shot puck mover.
It may not be any different and they arrive at the same place as they did.
They knew Laughton wouldn't be out long. They didn't know about the other players like Cowan.
Other things are getting known now.
With his history, Laughton might be out longer. If any of the other centers go down or they know one is suffering with something lingering, they might want the depth now. Domi on a wing is arguably better defensively.
And there is this problem with Kampf maybe having to pay back a bunch of his signing bonus as he tries to walk away
Different facts might lead to a different result.

Don't see the Leafs changing their stance at all here. Kampf may want whatever but it'll mean little to the Leafs.
