Does Rasmus Andersson give you 70-80% of what Werenski can? Leafs actually need a RH defenceman and all it will cost you is money.

He didn't have such a hot playoff. Estimates I've seen before that are for $8 mil/yr x many years.
Vegas supposedly had an 'understanding' to re-sign him but he may have played himself out of that.
We've already overspent to get Raddysh
For a 5/6 right handed dman, I think there is better value to be had. Maybe that is what Vegas is thinking ..

Considering what Bowen Byram is angling for its hard to view 8.5M as an "overpay" on the UFA market.

I doubt I would use Bowen Byram as my yardstick. Others might.

Here is what the Leafs right side would look like:
Raddysh $8M
Andersson $8M
Tanev $4.5M

The Leafs only have $21M in cap space left. Andersson would drop that to $13 M
And they only have two NHL centers and other slots to fill or RFAs to sign
Doesn't make a lot of sense to me on a guy coming off an iffy playoff

I think there is better value to be had on the UFA market for a 5/6 righthanded dman
If they're going to get silly, spend it on the best UFA center they can buy

I'm not crazy about that contract but we're not very far apart on that.
That deal won't age well.
But Chayka did what his owners told him to do and that overpayment was the going rate.

Hayton is currently an RFA so he needs a new contract. If he makes it past July 1st unsigned--what about sending him an offer sheet? Something like $4.75m x 5 years? The Leafs would have to give Utah a 2nd round pick.
