It was like when I was 5 and had clip on tie.

Not sure why, but a  : seems to fit really well here.

I think some people here are dramatically overestimating hockey players and the level of discourse of their dinner conversations.

You know, Wittgenstein, the relative merits of Ibsen vs. Eugene O'Neill, the merits of a unified North American currency. That's the norm.

Talking about another guy they play hockey with? That seems forced.
