Is it just me or are the umpires taking it out on us as we are Canadians

For the most part the umpires have done a solid job. I would say the only one that has been terrible was Vic Carapazza in Game 2, but he was just all out bad to BOTH teams.

That ump last game actually handled things really well. With everything that went on it could have gotten VERY ugly, but he kept his cool and the players didn't get out of control. And the fact that he owned up to his mistake and didn't hide from questions about it really impressed me.

I  can't really be upset with Estrada's pitching. That's some good hitting by kc.

But this is it... The Jays need to make something happen this inning.

It's not over yet but man I'd feel a lot better about going down 1-0 if there was some evidence that this team could come back when behind in a series. If only...

The strike zone didn't help them. Whenever the strike zone is wider than the Jays think it should be, they struggle. That's because so much of their game depends on making the pitcher come to them. Can't do that with a wide strike zone. This is the Jays Achilles heel. They don't adapt their approach to hitting based on the conditions of the game. This was talked about earlier in the year. Something to the effect of if they were to change their approach, then they wouldn't be able to do all the things that made them successful hitters. Unfortunately, in the playoffs you don't always have the luxury of "tomorrow".

Remember, the Jays are a softball team. While it was said as an insult to be shrugged off, it was completely true.

Ah well, it's only Game 1, but the Jays need to figure out the Royals pitching.

KC's starter Edison Volquez was stellar.  Had some trouble in the sixth what with the Jays' runners on 1st & 2nd, but got Tulo to strike out.  Perhaps this summed up for the Blue Jays -- frustration at the plate, stranding runners on base -- nothing generally went well here.  And for the Royals -- being in control on the mound plus further padding a lead & getting at Estrada early -- wwythng seemed according to plan and proved the keys to winning.

Jays need to regroup and focus on winning Game 2.

GO JAYS GO!!!

I don't watch baseball much but what does that metaphor mean? They want easy pitches?
