I wonder if there is a race on by Boris Johnson to see how far he can go before people think he's even more of a bell-end than Donald Trump

Why hasn't the report been released?

It's sort of the natural result of the conservatives being purged along Brexit lines, sadly. There is no reason to be in that party other than allegiance to Johnson so now that he's up to his neck in sewage he's got more than enough people available to back him as he tries to dig out. It's a perfect reminder for the rest of us how in parliamentary system allegiance to a party has to, no pun intended, trump allegiance to a policy or person otherwise a leader with a significant parliamentary majority is effectively a dictator.

Why hasn't the report been released?

The lady compiling the report found 16 instances of potential law breaking.

12 of them reached the threshold required to be investigated by the police.

The police have asked for reference to those not to be included in any reports for fear of prejudicing police investigations.

So it turns out that being investigated by the police has actually given him a get out clause.

Was a very theatrical afternoon in parliament with one MP (Blackford, leader of the SNP) being thrown out for calling Boris a liar. Which is ironic seeing as how Boris hasn’t been thrown out for actually lying.

Well, it looks like our own Conservative party is going to tear into each other for a while now. Because of Covid policy? No. Because of broader economic policy? No. How about just because of losing the last election? No, apparently the knives are out because Erin O'Toole was too against conversion therapy for LGBT youth.

Way to pick your battles guys. We'll have a Liberal government until the heat death of the universe.

Unless enough people plug their nose and not really care about the move to the right because they're tired of JT. I hope I'm wrong though, not because I like Trudeau, but because I don't like the idea of backward social progress.

Man, as a conservative voter, they sure make it hard to cheer for them.

At this point, I suspect we'll see a lot more of the opposite - people holding their nose and voting Liberal because the CPC have moved too far away from their values or a lot of voters just staying home on election day. There's a clear path to victory for whichever party decides to court the more moderate voters, but all of the parties seem to be moving further and further away from the middle.

Yes, this. Michael Chong would be a great choice for the Conservatives.

He was one of the first (if not the first) Canadian politicians calling out the treatment of Uyghurs in North West China. I think he's usually on the "correct" side of things. (From my perspective obviously. Traditionally a lefty kinda guy, Bernie supporter, etc)

I didn't want to start a whole thread about it but I really think the Tom Brady retirement is kind of funny. There are a lot of people who seem to really want to push the "He's up there with Gretzky, MJ and Ruth as the best in their sport!" stuff and his retirement seems to mostly being met with people who are glad he's gone or don't care much. For all of his success, he seems to have engendered almost no good will among fans who weren't fans of his team specifically.

Just a weird, not interesting person who reduced his sport to a not very fun to watch hyper-competency.

The last 2 people, Sheer and O'Toole have had very poor results.

It's so tough to deal with that old party hardliners and still appeal to younger voters...I really wanted them to convince Ambrose to stick around years ago after Harper left.

I thought MacKay would have been a better choice last round, but he couldn't get the support of the old conservative hardliners.
