I know I need to stop reading them, but the sportsnet comments are overwhelmingly negative. It?s actually funny. Dubas is a complete idiot according to most of the comments.
Oh well.
There is a contingent of people out there that feel that Montreal is now the second best team in the Atlantic behind Tampa, that Boston has fallen right off the map, and that Toronto might have made some improvements, but they will have to wait and see. This contingent seems to live in Ottawa and appears on Ottawa radio.
They mock Dubas on the radio in Ottawa saying that he is building his team using analytics and that it will never work. I kinda want to see it work just because I feel that those comments are meant to be inflammatory and that they are just saying them to get a rise out of Leaf fans.
Me too and for what it's worth. Thornton is a puck possession guy, just like the style the Leafs want to play. He still put up more points then Kerfoot last year on a terrible SJS team. Will his moves work? Don't know but I like what he's done. He's addressed the areas of concern so far. Let's not forget, Dubas did build a Calder Cup winning team in the AHL with the same philosophy.
This notion that the Habs are ahead now is premature. Yes Suzuki and Kont had good playoffs but I wouldn't go reading too much into performances after the return to play. I'll take JT and Matthews over their top 2 centres every day of the week.
I also don't see Boston going anywhere yet. They'll address their D but their forwards are still pretty good.
