Sort of covers the Johnsson niche of LW that can float between mid-6 lines.

I like it. Size and showed he can score at a decent clip.

Wonder what Dubas has up his sleeve here. Something's coming.

Strange-ish signing. I feel like any of these guys taking more than $700k put them at the risk of getting waived at the end of camp just for cap reasons. We'll see how that works out there I guess. This puts our LW depth at:

Hyman
Mikheyev (RFA)
Robertson (rookie)
Vesey
Engvall (trade?)

Not bad insurance considering there's some question marks there.

The signings are coming fast and furious. What a curious off season.

Quote
Vesey?s play away from the puck might be suspect, but he does excel at drawing penalties. All things considered, his knack for earning power plays is likely one of his greatest strengths.

Over the past two seasons, Vesey?s +10 penalty differential at 5-on-5 ranked third on the team behind only Buchnevich and Hayes. If we also include his rookie season, his +14 penalty differential at 5-on-5 over the last three years is the best on the Rangers. What?s interesting about this is that Vesey doesn?t seem to throw his body around or get hit at an exceptionally high rate. He simply has a knack for making referees raise blow their whistles.

Still waiting for a hard stop centreman to alleviate Tavares and Matthews from DZ starts. Lucas Wallmark?

I think someone else may have mentioned it earlier, but there's likely not going to be an AHL season this year, and the international depth options will likely all be playing in Europe and won't be able to be called up.  The Leafs will need players for a "taxi" squad, so depth will be important.

He scored a lot more goals with the Rangers than I would have guessed (16 goals first season, then back to back 17 goal seasons). If he does that with the Leafs he'll be a very welcome addition to the 3rd line.

Wonder what Dubas has up his sleeve here. Something's coming.

Trading Engvall to save 350k?

Engvall is waiver exempt for 15 more games so they don't have to get rid of him. Same with Joey Anderson

I don't think it's a matter of having to but at some point you just have to look at the bodies around and wonder if he's got a place here.
