They can piss me off and all that crap in the moment but I look at hockey now and for many years as entertainment. Nothing more then that.
I wish I felt that way. Too emotionally invested. Gotta work on that. Maybe this team can help, a few more performances like this might do the trick.

Okay, so what do we call this?  We aren't allowed to question their heart, or their commitment to the game or whatever because these are supposedly professional hockey players, but what was that we watched tonight?

The Hurricanes were on a back to back, and playing a 42 year old amateur goalie.  This is brutal.  Justify however you want, but if you don't put in the effort to try and beat a 42 year old Zamboni driver for the Marlies, well I think the commitment that you had to get to the NHL may have gone somewhere.

I get there are all these fancy stats that say the Leafs are supposed to be good at something, anything, but I really can't see it.  They don't seem to be good at anything, and I can't reconcile that because when they had the geriatric GM that was afraid of facial hair, they had 100 point seasons.  And now that they have the GM that can't even grow facial hair, they aren't even going to make the playoffs.  What the hell is this?

Dubas I think will stay the course but we shall see.

Sadly I don't think boy wonder has the balls, or the resources to do anything but that.
It's got nothing to do with balls. He has his vision/ideas and he's going to stick to it. Worst thing to do is have a knee jerk reaction after a game like this. I still think he's going after a top RHD so let's see if he can get one. Me personally, I'm moving Barrie for sure regardless. Liljegren can play the rest of the year. I'm also seeing what players like Hyman, can bring. Sell high if you can. It should be an interesting couple of days.

Florida could still lose tonight.  All is not lost

This team now desperately needs to get into the playoffs and win a round or 2
They have to advance and hopefully in doing so ,maybe then they will find some heart.
As of now they are all Jekyll and Hyde.

This will probably seem farcical coming from me but it's probably best for fans and people actually associated with the team to not overreact to tonight. They've still won more 60 minute hockey games than the Hurricanes this season and there's just no way that could be true if tonight was anything more than a particularly bad aberration.

Even if by some miracle they get in, they have virtually no chance to advance.

Sorry, I just know what I am going to have to face on Monday.  I hate living in Ottawa sometimes.  The radio hosts in the morning with Pierre Maguire will be all over it

"Dubas built his tea with analytics, look how that's working out for him.  He needs to understand that there is a nuance to the game that can't be measured with stats"

"The Leafs can't play defence.  Don't they know they have to play defence"

"The big 4 contracts that they signed are all bad value and they have crippled the team"

"They hired a coach that had no previous experience in the NHL, what were they thinking in that market"

"Andersen doesn't have the mental makeup to win a game 7 and his body language tells me that he doesn't want to be on the Leafs right now"

On and on and on and on.....I know it's all garbage, but when you don't have a counter argument it feels like you are fighting Muhammad Ali in his prime with one hand tied behind your back.

Deep breathes.  Think happy "Mats Sundin off the crossbar and in" thoughts.

Maybe Monday will be a sick day.  Mad at your hockey team because they can't seem to outwork the opposing team is a kind of sick, isn't it?

Ive been following this team for 38 years.  The best we ever did was final 4 twice. The last couple of years I started not watching every single game like I used to. Ive missed more games in the last couple of years than I have in the previous 36. Ive told myself I wont start watching until they have a playoff spot guaranteed. Im going back to that. Its just better for my health.

The thing is we don't know what it is. The effort was there for the most part but they couldn't make a pass to save their lives. There's no rhyme or reason for this to happen but it does. Leafs really didn't look good the whole game. It was only close in the 2nd because of Freddie. This team continues to baffle. They played their absolute best game on Thursday and tonight their worst. Funny thing is so many play horrible at the same time.

I think unfortunately the leafs' record with Reilly/Ceci out is more representative of what to expect for the rest of the way. The leafs banked a fair number of wins with a middling defense, not the tire fire that remains.

Leafs really didn't look good the whole game. It was only close in the 2nd because of Freddie.

I don't know. It feels like tonight we saw both good and bad Freddie and it feels like we see a lot of games where he really keeps the team in it during a bad period and then he has a stretch where he looks like he's swimming all over the place and lets in 3 goals and the post game match analysis is "Well, you can't say the goaltending was bad because he was so great until he wasn't".

Meanwhile we'd eat any forward/defenseman alive if he was good in the first and then ate it in the 2nd.
