Seems expensive but maybe not? Galy seems like a reclamation project at this point.

This is the third team trying to 'reclaim' Galchenyk

I don't know, Galchenyk is 26, has put up pretty decent scoring totals until this year in Pittsburgh (where his ice time has dropped drastically) and actually has more career points in less career games than Zucker. I think Minnesota did alright here.

Addison is a good prospect, and giving up a 1st is always a steep price - especially that has only drafted in the 1st round twice in the past 7 drafts, and has one of the shallowest prospect pools in the league - but Zucker's under contract for a few more years, and Galchenyuk is basically a salary dump to make it work under the cap (he's been a huge disappointment for the Pens, but could still be a reasonable top 6 forward somewhere, as long as you don't expect much more than ~20 goals, and 40-50 points). It's a win-now move for a team that's trying to maximize what is probably their last few runs at the Cup with their two superstars.

Zucker's definitely been a late bloomer, and he's also played most of his career with a much more defensive focused team. Will be interesting to see what being part of an offence orientated squad does for his totals.

It's a trade that seems pretty fair for both sides. I don't think Galchenyuk really had any value as far as Pittsburgh was concerned. He wasn't doing much for them, had a large AAV, and is a pending UFA. Minnesota probably just took him for cap reasons.

So it's really just a 1st and Addison (2nd round pick from 2018 who seems to be progressing well). That's a large price but Zucker, especially alongside Crosby or Malkin, should be able to hit the 60 point mark again at a minimum in Pittsburgh. He's also signed for another 3 seasons after this one at a decent AAV.

So Pittsburgh gets another scoring winger, which they desperately needed after Guentzel's injury, and Minnesota gets a couple nice pieces for a guy they've been trying to trade for awhile now.

Ah, I didn't realize Galchenyuk was an impending UFA or that Zucker had multiple years left. Carry on  ;)
