Yup. See ya Sparky. With the new kids coming in, I dont think the Leafs will worry about him getting picked off waivers should it happen and after last year I don't see it happening.

Having a back-up who couldn't regain the AHL net back from Kasimir Kaskisuo isn't exactly super encouraging. I'm fine with him or Sparks as the #3 but I still hope they have slightly higher aspirations for the back-up.

To be fair. Hutch was with the Leafs during the playoffs and KK got on a roll. He also went 14 and 5 with tge Marlies. I dont know if he'll be bavking up Freddie but Im seriiusly doubting Sparks will get a sniff eith the Leafs unless its an emergency. I think that bridge has been burnt.

Yeah, this seems unlikely to be the final say on the matter of who backs up Freddy. If anything it reads more as having a plan B if they can't find someone better.

Well, I mean, whatever Dubas plans a 1 year/700k contract isn't committing anyone to any course of action.

With an enormous percentage of our cap invested in forwards, and a rather severely depleted defence corps as well, the back-up position is going to have to be a bit of a wing and a prayer and we're going to have to pray that Freddie stays healthy. I don't see anyone on the UFA goalie list that is likely to be much better than Hutch who won't also demand at least a $2M+ price tag and I don't see how we can afford that (unless Marner surprises us all and signs for under $9M). Everyone else is at least as much of a crap-shoot.
It's not denial...I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

Agreed; this signing means nothing, really. He might be signed for the Marlies for all we know.

It probably does mean we're not adding anyone else to the pot. We're lining up for a complete repeat of last year. Same forwards, worse D, same goalies, same head coach. I want some change.

I never heard Dubas say the roster is set. Opening night is a long way away. Give it time.
