I'm pretty uncomfortable with that statement, to be honest. Kadri's past supsensions have been warranted.

Suspensions yes. The way the game is called on the ice? Hmm

Herman, I really wish you wouldn't go down this path, cause it affects how I respect you personally. Racism isn't a casual thing to throw around.

Are you saying you have a change in respect for me for insinuating that the NHL night have a race problem?

I'm saying that unless you have clear evidence of nhl referees exhibiting bias due to race, you're spitballing, and it doesn't look good on you.

Kadri gets kneed and nothing. Kadri gets his stick up and he's getting suspended? Jokes.

This game was lost in the first 5 minutes of the first period. Boston came out swinging and Toronto came out ducking and reaching. They handled the puck like it was a live grenade and this is not a good way to play hockey.
They turned it into a dump and chase game and you're not going to win a dump and chase game against the Bruins. Not the way they were stapling everything to the wall.

As for Kadri, he has to be smarter. I get that he feels he's responding to the Marleau hit, but there are far better ways to do that. His emotions constantly get the better of him. You know why Marchand and Gallagher are so effective? Because they know when to reel it in. Kadri tries to walk the same line but he has no self control. He should be suspended for that play. I'm guessing 3 games again. If so, he has let down his team again. That's two playoffs in a row. That's unacceptable IMO.

I have to watch the knee on knee again, but Kadri jumped, and we all know that jumping when someone is trying to hit you is never a good move. Especially not on those open ice hits.

No game is ever lost in the first five minutes of the first period.

Also, we need to allow swearing on these boards for situations like this.  :)

Yeah it was only 1-0 at that point and the entire game to play. Had the refs called it fairly who knows what the outcome would have been.

I think that if you handicap the bizarro Nylander gaffe, the one sided refereeing, and the home ice energy level amping up the bruins to an level that can't be sustained through the series, it could have been a very close game.

Every indication I've seen out of the last few games is that the leafs are a better opposition than last year. Maybe I'm being overly positive, but I like this team.

Kadri's season is over.
Kadri's Leaf career is over. Don't get me wrong I have always like him; followed his ups and downs since he was drafted, but he keeps making knucklehead mistakes which hurt his team and teamates.  Time for him to go.

I'm not worried yet. With Kadri out I think Nylander should play 3rd line center with Ennis and Moore. Have Marleau drop to 4th line duties with Brown and Gauthier (although Babs would never do this , but that 3rd line with Ennis and Moore would give Boston fits)

I tend to agree with you. His contract is very good and his value around the league would still be fairly high. Would solve the Leafs upcoming cap crunch by moving him. He's a great player but you can't have a loose cannon who may get suspended come playoff time as he's done the last 2 years.

Matthews being extremely diplomatic when asked about the reffing.
If Matthews doesn't move into beast mode for the next game then we are done, Nylander only figured it out minutes into the 3rd and started to play. Marner seemed to be trying but nothing bounced his way.
To be honest, if Matthews continues over the next few years to play this way, I would consider moving him to Arizona when McDavid wants to come out of the oilfields.
Matthews is 6'3" 220, time to hit someone and get the mojo going, we need you.
Offseason modeling doesn't cut it.

I think this is probably playing a lot in Kadri getting a bigger suspension that people might have originally thought. Especially after Tom Wilson's last suspension.

This really isn't a disaster. We didn't get the PPs or the bounces, but apart from Nylander, the pushback and compete level as a whole was great to see.

Hey, if Toronto fans were offered a split coming out of Boston, who wouldn't be pleased?

Apart from Nylander? What about Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Johnsson, and Kapanen?

They competed. Nylander was an abject disaster tonight.
I disagree to a point, Nylander was asleep for two periods and then something woke him up, I think he played a strong 3rd, I just posted about Matthews and want to add.  Matthews has another level, he is not playing at it or close to it. He has to find a way to channel his overdrive, cause if he does the Leafs will win this series, if he doesn't....then more of the same.....golf and modelling.
