I think that if someone told him before the game that he'd only give up 2 goals against the Leafs he'd probably have been thrilled.

lc9 would've been mad. Giving up 2 goals is a cardinal sin.

It's still perplexing to me that Nylander is getting ice time in the 13 minute range from Babcock.  Is he watching a different game than the rest of us?

Babcock declared it Nylander's best game (EVAR).

Last nights ice-time was certainly bizarre, but prior to that he was averaging 18:11 a game in the 7 games since being reunited with Matthews.

Like JvR before him, when our score is high, Nylander's minutes are lowered. That's probably why he doesn't bother scoring himself because he knows he's just cutting into his own ice time. (He's also coming off an illness that he missed practice for).

On the other hand, if the 4th line scores a couple of goals, guess who's getting 20 minutes that night.

Zach “the Hands” Hyman with 20

The casual push away of the stick Luongo lost on Marner’s shot sort of sealed it.

Lol, seeing this again now, Hyman blocks the defenseman from bumping Lu's stick back to him.

Hawryluk's elbow to Tavares' head started the whole thing. Good on Ron for the response, a rarity with the Buds. JT appreciated it as well, as we see with the stick tap. Reminds me of Naz's response in the playoffs to the Marner double-team in Game 1, which was good. Except for the 3 game suspension. Which was bad.

It's ridiculous how Anderson was just beat down in that game with no reaction from our D. Get him out of there! He looks exhausted and frustrated. Protect him. We're absolutely screwed if he gets hurt.

Hyman's 20 goals is quite the accomplishment. I wonder if it can be replicated? He does seem to have that extra drive to win a lot of puck battles and has actually made some very skilled plays of late. Is this his peak? I hope it doesn't go the way of Brown post-20-goal-season but I wouldn't be overly surprised if it did. Remove his 6 empty net goals and those 6 shots, his shooting percentage drops from 15.4% to 11.3%.

I don't know if we should expect him to be a regular 20 goal scorer, but he's definitely worked on his game and looks more
comfortable with the puck on his stick. If he sticks with Marner and Tavares there might be enough goal-mouth opportunities for
him to be close to 20 every year. If he keeps developing his skills, who knows? Grit, speed, tenacity, just keep working on those
skills.

I do agree with Bob McKenzie about Marleau. Actually, I agree with him about banning the term "load management." I mean, at least it's grammatically correct. I can't believe people are still using "compete level" as if compete is a noun.

It's not.

It's a verb.

I love you.

He’s had a great year, but given that 6 of his goals were empty net, I think it’s likely we’re looking at the high water mark for Zach Hyman’s production.

Yeah, 'compete' is way better as an adverb, as in, "the team played very competely".

You're welcome.
