Duszak officially signs his PTO.
I do wonder one thing: Is there a maximum amount of money you can earn on a PTO?
Did the Leafs use some financial muscle to get him?
His NHL deal starts NEXT year, at the maximum ELC of 925k x 2 years (since he'll be 22). Includes 92,500 in signing bonus money. In the AHL he'll earn 70k.
If he signed an NHL deal that kicked in this year: ELC of 925k x 3 years (still 21). He'd get the 92,500 in signing bonus money, but only a small portion of the 70k (ie prorated amount).
Can they pay him more than 100k on his PTO? I don't have clear information on PTO salary/signing bonus limits for AHL deals. IE, can they exceed the Signing bonus and prorated salary limits of the NHL ELC rules?
Maybe they didn't need to back the brinks truck up to sign him, but I do wonder if they COULD with the top NCAA/CHL/European free agents by doing this.
