Seattle Cobains.

Cobain was from Aberdeen.

Hendrix, though, was from Seattle.

Cheerfully withdrawn. Less specific:

Seattle Grunge

They could have a competing mascot to Gritty called Grungey.

I've always felt like the one key rule for naming a team should be that you really want to avoid the sort of things that would go on an energy drink logo. It's why the worst names are things like Thunder or Wild or some generic supposedly fierce animal. That's how you get forgettable things like the Jaguars or Raptors or Lightning.

Go local, go with something with character.

Some good ideas here. I like repurposing the old Seattle Pilots idea.

I like the idea of the Pilots, too. Depends on whether or not the Brewers still own the rights to the name. Aviators is a pretty interesting idea, too.

Still pulling Seattle Sound, though. I like alliterative names, and it works on a couple levels. Probably too close to their MLS team, the Sounders, though.

I know the Mariners have worn Pilots throwbacks a few times over the years so if anyone owns it I imagine it'd be them.

Ron Francis will be the first GM for Seattle:

Kraken

Yeah, I like Kraken.  Totems I don't like.

Seals, I also like.  Could make a cool military reference out of it too.

Sockeyes doesn’t sound too bad.  Here were (are) some hints for potential team name.

I liked Seals best, but Kraken was on my approved list.
