You would think that Johnsson would perhaps be on the Swedish team?

I'm not sure Johnsson makes it into the Swedish depth chart, actually. It's akin (to a degree) to Connor Brown being on Team Canada.

Any word of Matthews on the U.S team?

He's going home to rest up.

It's def going to game 5 because Utica won the last game. Game 4 tonight.

The first round is a best of 5 series, and the Marlies are up 2-1 going into tonight.

Thank you for this clarification, herman.

No problem. AHL playoffs format is weird. The home-ice decision thing is also a bit weird.

Marlies smoked last night. Sparky had no support. Engvall scores (again).  they need to get Dermott and Johnsson in the lineup pronto (Toronto)

It's clear to me that management has no faith in Sparks. I know that he had a great season but the fact that Pickard was the only goalie besides Andersen and Mac to get in a game with Leafs speaks volumes. Not sure why Pickard hasn't played in playoffs but he'll probably be in tomorrow. Woll is the goalie of the future. Maybe near future.

Pickard’s recall was based on waiver exemption.

Marlies advance after a 4-0 victory over Utica gives them a 3-2 series victory.

Sparks with 37 stops in the shutout.

AJ makes a difference immediately with a goal and two apples.

Gundstrom with another two goals.

Dermott had an apple and played in all situations.

They will play Syracuse in the next round.

Let's hope for a long run. Hopefully Gundstrom can make the jump next year. Same with Aaltonan

Sparks makes gloveless (sans blocker) 'save':

Man, getting actual NHLers to join your playoff drive is a huge boost.

Footnote: I solved the ‘mango’ nickname mystery. Andreas Johnsson’s old Frolunda coach Roger Ronnberg used to jokingly call him ‘mongo’ (Swedish slang for idiot). It stuck.

These were the Marlies lines with Johnsson and Dermott back:

Borgman and Rosen are both hurt on defence, so getting Dermott back is huge. Bracco was a healthy scratch.

Pierre Engvall's here on a PTO and his rights expire soon, but it's safe to say that he's earned himself a contract. 8 points in 9 regular season games and 3 points in 5 playoff games since coming over.
