That is incredible.

Took a slapshot to the head from Rolston.

Only 9 more years at $4.5M!  (I'm sure there will eventually be a buyout down the road somewhere)

Maybe, but, you can't buy out an injured player, so, maybe not.

The Rangers and Drury got away with it somehow no?

Only because Drury agreed to it - and, I imagine if he had more than 1 season left on his contract, he wouldn't have.

. . . and, the award for Least Surprising Long-Term Injury goes to . . .

StapeNewsday: BREAKING NEWS: #Isles G Rick DiPietro out indefinitely with a concussion. More in a bit.

How many more years and dollars is the Yashin buyout?  The buyouts really cripple you forever.  (Tucker's is annoying for us, but relatively tame in comparison)

Not including this season, 3 more years at a shade over $2.2M on the Yashin buyout.

That's not as bad as I thought.  I figured it would be another 6+ on that one ... I guess Yashin has been out of the league for a while.

They're in year 5 of an 8 year buy out.

I believe somebody calculated his potential buyout as being $1.5M/year for 18 years. Ouch.

Wow! Nabokov is third in depth for the Islanders. Really?
I guess we're optimists because we are Maple Leaf Fans.

Nope. DiPietro is. Nabokov was backing up Montoya so far this season.

A buyout probably doesn't make sense as dipietro is extraordinarily unlikely to want to play out his contract at this point.

Luongo for dipietro and spezza/chara for yashin are the two worst decisions I can think of.  It is amazing milbury has a job that purportedly involves knowledge of hockey.

Jason Blake out for 3 months

Ducks say Jason Blake suffered tendon damage that requires surgery on Monday. Expected to miss 3 months.

And in a contract year, not sure he comes back next season due to age, so could be his final year playing hockey.

A couple notable injuries to some key defencemen;

Lubomir Visnovsky out about a month with a broken finger and Alex Goligoski out about the same duration with a broken thumb.
