Ok we trade the CN tower for one big Rocky Mountain, that would look great beside the Lake.  Vancouver not so sure perhaps, we get the Sedins for Bismark Biyombo (sorry for spelling)

Even if they were rough and tough real Canadian men, they're too long in the tooth now, and, closer to staring on their retirement home shuffleboard team!

What have they really accomplished in the NHL to make the HHOF?  Bloody heck, even Paul Henderson isn't in the HHOF, and he deserves it more than either of the gold medal winning Sedins.

So logically they should be described as women, and that that classification should be, in some way, insulting?

They're both going to finish with 1000+ points in an era where scoring was scarce, they've each won an Art Ross, Henrik has won the Hart Trophy, Daniel won the Lindsay, they led the Canucks to within a game of the cup and have been first rate NHL'ers for 15+ years. On top of that international success does count towards election(if it didn't, why in the world would Henderson be deserving?) and so winning a Gold Medal counts.

Your parallel is somewhat faulty in that there is no absolute connection between international success and membership in the HHOF.

After all, Henderson is not in the HHOF and yet the goalie he beat more than once to win the 1972 series is in the HHOF largely because of his performance in that series.

That said, I have no issue with your point or with your comments about the Sedins.

I didn't say there was an "absolute" connection. I said, rightly, that international accomplishments are taken into consideration for the HHOF. It's not the NHL HOF.

Tretiak is in the HHOF because of his many years of high level play with the Soviet team. Putting Henderson in because he scored on him would be like putting anyone in the HOF if they scored a couple goals on Brodeur. But that doesn't mean there isn't a strong connection between NHL success and being in the HOF.
