So Arizona is just 2 points back of Buffalo now, 5 games left each. How funny would it be if the Yotes passed them and then Buffalo fell to 3rd after the lottery (because the Leafs won it)?

I'm going to start praying!  ;D

I am starting to get the feeling that I had when Raptors won the #1 pick. Lets hope they don't draft a tall Italian player knick-named the Magician.
Lets keep with Ontario boys

Sorry, wasn't talking about those Ontario boyz. The pre 2000 years don't count.

Rask for Raycroft was to me the worst trade of all time. What drug was JFK on for that one? A bad Brylcream day for sure

JFK? LOL! Aside from that... ya, one of the worst trades in Leafs history.

It's funny, but at the time of that trade I think the general feeling was, that Raycraft looked like a pretty talented goalie, and Rask looked alright, but was getting beat out for game minutes by our other goalie . Goes to show how much you can really tell about goalies at the early stages of their careers.

A good defensive team is going to eliminate scoring chances.  They're not going to give the opposition time to pick the weak glove hand... ...or even expose the goalie in having one.  And maybe the biggest, they're not going to make the goalie lose his confidence.  If your team is good for three goals, there's a big difference in facing 20 shots or 40 shots.  Let in a bad goal, it's okay... the team should win.  But when you know 30 more shots are coming and you have to stop every one of them, I'm sure it's very stressful.  The Leafs were getting goalies from teams that denied these goalies from being exposed.  They get on the Leafs and they can't do it.  Maybe Raycroft wasn't worth it, but if he had ended up in New Jersey instead of the Leafs, his career might of gone a different direction.  There comes a time to realize the Leafs are ruining goalies more then the goalies are ruining the Leafs.

Rask was traded a year after he was drafted before he even came over to NA and he still played another year in Finland before coming over to Boston's organization.

Raycroft was coming off a year where he had a 0.879 save percentage and Rask was considering one of, if not the best goaltending prospects in the league. So yeah, basically exactly what he didn't say.

After having an outstanding World Junior Championship.  I felt he was by far the goalie of the tournament and outclassed Pogge.  Raycroft wasn't even the backup goalie for the bruins at the time of the trade and general consensus was the he was a one hit wonder.  I don't mind that they tried something but trading the wrong prospect in my mind really upset me at the time.  They chose Pogge over Rask.  That was the mistake and its even easier to say it in hindsight.
