Strange things can happen in shortened seasons.

Like what?

For the record, I have to assume that the Rangers, Penguins, Flyers, Bruins, Capitals and Hurricanes will get six of the spots. Can the leafs fight for one of the last two with the Sens, Devils, Sabres and Panthers? My head says "no", but my heart says "Ah hellnaw".

Playoffs? We're talking about playoffs?

Please tank this one year. Please. We need Jones, MacKinnon or Drouin. Be competitive after this year!

Not good enough.  And I don't think that there's a core here yet to build around.

They have a chance in this shortened season, in light of the way they've been playing and their w/l record so far.  I'm inclined towards an affirmatively positive answer.  Besides, if Reimer (when he returns from his minor injury) can continue to backstop the team as well as he had been playing prior to his injury, and with all hands on deck, so to speak, the opportunity is definitely there for the Leafs' taking.

Besides, I'm an optimist.  :)
