Nylander played 8:39 tonight..........
Was it that much? Don't think I saw him the entire 3rd period. Good use of assets.

It'll take extra mental cortortions than usual to attempt to justify Babcock's use of Nylander tonight, but I'm sure someone will try.

Nylander had one shift in the third as the Penguins shortened their bench to chase the score. It’s also the front half of a back to back so guess who is going to be ridiculously fresh today where we have home ice advantage against a one line team?

Edit: granted that I believe the best way to protect a lead is to score another goal on them while they are taking risks, I don’t mind that Nylander wasn’t on the top line getting literally smothered by Crosby’s line. Matthews and co zeroing out Crosby (or nearly) is pretty much a win. The only goal they gave up was an accidental collision taking out both Matthews and Rielly from the play.

To be fair they only scored one goal because of a few near misses.  The Leafs were thoroughly outplayed in the 3rd.  This is the problem with having arguably your second best player on the 4th line.  Babcock was so focused on line matching that he sat the whole 3rd.  There is no reason to do that.

I blame myself for that as I only tuned in for the 3rd period. The Leafs seem to play much better when I stick to the sportsnet live updates, and these message boards game day threads.  ;D

MotM: Anderson
HM: Matthews

Mentions to Marner, Hainsey and Rielly.

This is exciting! Go leafs go!

LOL....yeah, I never renamed any of those files.....

Files? mean....they're not real?  :(
the stuffed bears are real. the sweaters they wear were all made by me. many have been repurposed (ie, Tucker Bear became McArthur Bear and now has a new life as Marner Bear.)
I just today changed my old 39Bear (don't even remember who that was, the file was called 39Bear) to 29 Bear so Nylander has representation now. And the old 14Stajan bear has become 44 Rielly so I *think* all the regulars are represented again :D

39 bear = Travis Green?

An aside, I heard there could be difficulty insuring Stamkos with regards to blood clots? That's a toughie if true.

I would think that would give teams like Toronto, who have lots of real money to spend, an advantage in signing Stamkos. Like the Horton trade?

So would anyone else kind of prefer drafting 4th instead of 3rd? I know that doesn't make a ton of sense as you could draft whoever you take at 4 at 3 if you really wanted to but I feel like drafting #3 means we get Pulijarvi who, while obviously a good prospect, seems to kind of not be exciting anyone right now. Pick 4th and there are all sorts of interesting possibilities.

Or trade our #3 for #4 or 5 or 6 and another pick!

The glass is still half empty and we are tops. Can' wait till it's 2/3 full.

You mean 1/3 empty.
