Woof. I'm really not sure about that bottom 6. The fact that this team seemingly doesn't have any 22 or 23 year old guys from in-house beating down the door to be on that third line is a real weak spot.

I'm wondering if it's Engvall, Kase, and Mikheyev fighting for spots with Brooks and Robertson.

It's really a disappointment that the Marlies couldn't provide a couple of guys on ELCs to help out their cap situation in the bottom six.

At what point to they have to be compliant...the day before regular season starts?

He scored at a 21g - 38 point pace last season, 15g - 36 point pace the year before.

I'm good with this deal, especially given how weak the left side was looking.

Big price to pay, but BerrĂos really does solidify the rotation

I think many of us might be a little gun shy given the Leafs' brutal trade deadline acquisitions over the past couple of years.

I hope it works, they're still 4.5 games out of a wildcard spot.

I'm down with it.  He adds so much needed size.

This is what kind of pisses me off about that Kampf signing at too much money...that extra $750K would be useful in signing a guy like Ritchie.

Anybody put any faith in the claim that Suggs didn't want to come to Toronto anyway?

Rogers maybe getting impatient?

A keen eyed fan will notice that's a Marlies jersey.

"You know, I play the role so well that it's gotten me into 26 NHL games since I was drafted in 2014.  So yeah, similar to Brad Marchand."

If it makes you guys feel any better Hallander is a winger.

Really?

Ya, I'm with Nik here...I think you could replace Kerfoot much more easily than you can replace a good'ish C prospect like Hallander...the Leafs are pretty lacking in C prospects.

It really bothers me that they went and paid $1.5m for Kampf, who is an offensive black hole...like that's the kind of player (defensive centre) that you'd think the super funded Marlies should be able to generate for the big club.

If he is so good why did the Yotes let him go?  Not an expensive player.

He was a UFA.

And turned down better offers to be here

If I had a dime for every time I heard that...

The only thing that can dispel that is to win a freaking round in the playoffs.

But what does that actually prove?

I think it would disprove that they can't thrive under the pressure conditions of the playoffs.

Thus far:

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Robertson-Tavares-Nylander
Kerfoot-Kampf-Mikheyev
Spezza-Engvall-Simmonds
Brooks

Rielly-Brodie
Muzzin-Holl
Sandin-Dermott
Liljegren

Campbell
Mrazek

1.445M under the cap

That's a really questionable left side though.

You're not wrong...and putting a guy with 26 NHL games under his belt on Matthews' wing is a bit of a gamble.
