Must be nice having a team built around and committed to fast break offense. It also doesn't require super expensive players (easier to put up points with odd-man rushes than the creativity and puck control required to breakdown a set DZ structure).

lol. Lmao, even.

Panthers fans (and that one Oilers lady fan) should just start standing up when Ceci is on the ice

This is trending towards a split at the deadline I think

The big ticket UFA ones will likely get their own thread, but here's where we can dump the others.

Eric Tulsky, now officially the GM of an NHL team after blogging about hockey in his spare time, has made his first signing and it's a crazy nice deal for his team. (Which sucks a bit for the Leafs)

The Everblades (and Josh Ho-Sang) recently won the Kelly Cup (3rd straight).

Quote from: Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate on June 11, 2024, 01:23:58 PMMLHS has some decent recaps of Matthews & Nylander's seasons.  No revelations: Both are gamebreakers, Matthews needs to bring it in the playoffs, that's all he has left to prove, and Nylander still cheats for offense.

Crazy to think he was hired by the team way back in 2018. Smart guy, but even before Treliving was hired it felt like his role in hockey ops was starting to get reduced so this isn't all that surprising or noteworthy even.

I think he was largely hired for stickhandling the expansion draft(s). My guess would be Doan takes over most of his portfolio.

Again, the content of what's being said through the media is all just posturing for bargaining position on both sides. However, how it's being said points towards a divorce happening one way or another.

Is there a younger version? I was really hoping Jarnkrok had some actual chops there, but sadly no.

No, although I will say I expected Pageau to be a little older than he actually is (turns 32 this November). That's up there, but not exactly ancient. edit: to hammer this point in he's actually younger than Jarnkrok.

If you want an even crazier idea, Montreal might be looking to unload Mitch's old centre from his London Knights days...

I just flipped through the list of RH centres expiring now to like 3 years out and the market is poop.
I was hoping for younger than Jarnkrok today, because a UFA signing will likely require some term commitment.

Annoyingly, Boston has the market semi-cornered on this player profile.

I'm kind of on the Elias Lindholm train if he magically comes in <7 (after turning down all other higher extensions so far), but I think Boston will end up getting him.

I also think we see a longer stretch of Nylander at centre, with maybe Berube's hair turning gray faster than expected.

Quote from: Dappleganger on Yesterday at 08:49:49 AMI think Bert is gone. I don't see how they could fit in his salary given the teams other needs.

I expect Dewar and Robertson to be back so I think there's also a lack of forward spots for Bertuzzi as well.

I agree. For the first time in awhile, LW is not a position of need. Let the kids gain some traction.

I honestly can't tell if he's doing a bit, or if it's actual reporting.
