Quote from: herman on July 01, 2023, 09:19:36 PMSo far:

Knies-Matthews-Marner
Nylander-Tavares-Järnkrok
____-Kämpf-Lafferty
____-Holmberg-Reaves

Maybes: McMann, Robertson

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Klingberg
Giordano-Liljegren
Timmins

Murray
Woll

RFA: Samsonov

LTIR: Muzzin

We're under 500k from the cap ceiling before LTIR. Knies/Holmberg are waiver exempt so we could see some assignment shenanigans and an additional signing to push us right to the ceiling to get the LTIR maxed.

Murray's contract is an impediment to just throwing money at the higher end targets that are still waiting for a committed dance partner.

All in all: off-season isn't done yet. It's not great, but like others said, it's not tragically bad (look at who has term commitment). There aren't any poison pills (depending on how you view the Reaves commitment). A top-6 LW would be nice but we can probably thrive just fine until the deadline if need be.

Putting a lot of eggs in the Knies basket here.  I'd say we need 2 more centers, one to push Tavares to the wing and another to challenge for 3rd line center.

Would like another d-man as well.

Dump Murray and you may be able to get two out of three.

Yep, signed elsewhere.

A poor showing so far indeed, but still, there are one or two hail mary attempts left.

Maybe the Leafs think they can carry over the unused cap space to next year.
#35
Reeves on a multi year deal seems like a horrible decision.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on June 30, 2023, 01:26:00 PMJust spitballing:

Jarnkrok-Matthews-Marner
Knies-ROR-Nylander
Duchene-Tavares-Brown
Reaves-Kampf-Lafferty
McMann

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Liljegren
Giordano-Timmins
7D

Samsonov
Woll

Sammy signed to $3.5mil and Murray dealt. ROR ($5mil), Duchene ($3.5mil), Brown ($2.5mil), Reaves (begrudgingly $1.5mil). $1.09mil left to spend on a 7D.

Obviously I focused all the cap space on forwards here. Hypothetically a Ryan Graves could be an option on D at $5mil with Brodie then being dealt to clear the space if Treliving wanted to see some more size to the back end.

I don't like that D much at all! Forwards look great though.

Leafs receive worst grade at Draft

(Though they don't say much really).

Tied for worse from what I can see.

I'll wait a see with Cowan, like any late first-round pick, but I find the comments that Treliving messed up baffling. Not here so much as Twitter. I highly doubt Treliving came roaring in and demanded this pick. He's too new, he's trusting the scouting staff. If Cowan is a dud, I put 0% of that blame on Treliving.

I'm good with this deal. We don't need Kampf to score, or at least we shouldn't.

Quote from: CarltonTheBear on June 28, 2023, 08:57:57 AMMock drafts really seem all over the place, even more so than usual, so it's impossible to predict who could be available by the time pick 28 comes around but some names I'd be looking at are: Quentin Musty, Eduard Sale, Otto Stenberg, Calum Ritchie, Charlie Stramel and Gavin Brindley. Hopefully one of them is still there.

Sure seems like the late stage of the 1st round is going to have an above average amount of prospects with a high-ish ceiling.

Quentin Musty is the clear choice of that group.

Is he not allowed to participate at the draft or is he just not allowed to be at the table? Meaning he can be called if need be? Kind of odd.

Can't be at the draft table, and can't particulate in draft meetings or something. Seems really dumb, how to they enforce any of it, besides being at the actual draft table.

Quote from: Dappleganger on June 21, 2023, 01:00:51 PMSeems weird the other sports leagues figured out the covid years-tied to league revenue thing and the NHL could not.

Considering how poorly the NHL is run, I'm not surprised at all.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but if Treliving sweet talks Matthews into an 8 year deal at any number south of 15M AAV, that's a big time win.

Love it! 8 years would be fantastic. Would be an excellent start for Treliving.
