Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Goaltending Showdown - Reimer vs. Bernier
« on: September 30, 2014, 12:08:08 PM »
I think most fans are of the opinion that the goaltending 'showdown' is officially over. This article just add more ammunition to that argument...

(Some nice graphics too)

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / The Komarov Effect
« on: September 24, 2014, 08:27:11 AM »
I figured we needed a dedicated thread for Leo. (if there isn't one already)

I know it's early, but something tells me we're going to be doing a lot of Komarov 'discussing' this season. Besides the fact that he looks like he's actually gotten better since his first stop over in Toronto, he's also a real 'shift disturber', and he's entertaining on the ice as well. He's also a pretty interesting guy outside of hockey too. Apparently the Estonian native speaks 6 or 7 different languages.

What I like about him most is that grit and energy he brings to every single game he plays, and at the level we don't see from too many players in the game today.

Will he be an impact player this season?

My guess is that he will, but the jury's still out, I guess. Should be fun to watch, and hopefully he can add some more scoring to his repertoire this year.

I think he'll turn out to be the best off season moves Nonis made this past summer.

General Rumours & Speculation / Gretzky coming to Leafs front office?
« on: December 05, 2013, 08:19:06 AM »
Now that Wayne has settled his case with the league there are many rumours that have him coming to the Leafs front office (again) in some capacity. Does he come to Toronto, and where does he fit in?

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / GAME in SIX Thread
« on: November 24, 2013, 03:56:19 PM »
I thought we might start a GAME IN SIX thread for those fans with limited access to the live games, or those of us that like to watch a tidy little recap of the game the next morning. Instead of searching for it on Leafs.com I thought it would be quicker and easier to find here on our favorite Leaf fan site. :)

If the mods are alright with this, I'll post these as often as I can, relying from time to time on other members to cut and paste a link to the previous nights matches.

Let's start this off with last nights game, Leafs vs. Capitals, GAME IN SIX...

Non-Hockey Chatter / Mayor Rob Ford

Rob Ford is dressing up as a crack smoking jailbird this year.

I love this retweet by David Alter...
For those not in Toronto, our mayoral version of Breaking Bad just reached the point where Hank is taking a dump with the Walt Whitman book

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Dave Bolland
« on: October 18, 2013, 06:03:27 PM »
I didn't see a proper Dave Bolland thread, so here it is...

Apparently the Blackhawks are having a video tribute for the man before the game tomorrow night. I guess not everyone can claim they scored a Stanley cup winning goal.

Now, if only he can become the first player to repeat that feat for two different teams, we'll really be on to something. ;)

Let's hope the boys can put together a solid game from start to end, and beat the champs tomorrow night!

Main Leafs Hockey Talk / Grading the off season additions...
« on: October 06, 2013, 10:01:43 AM »
I realize the season has only just begun, but I'm interested in hearing some reactions about the players Nonis and company have added to this roster. I'm pretty sure most people are pretty happy overall, and perhaps a little surprise how well the new guys have fit it.

Without even seeing the most noteworthy acquisition, in Clarkson, play a single game, I'm ranking the new guys as such...

1) Bernier    2-1-0.64
2) Bolland   3-2-1-3
3) Raymond 3-2-2-4
4) Clarkson 0-0-0-0

Whether or not Clarkson climbs his way to the top of that list upon his return or not, Nonis has done an outstanding job this past offseason.
