Yeah I like the balance of those top 3 lines a lot more.

Still not sure about the 4th, though.

We should have picked Laine.

Former Leaf Daniel Winnik just scored in the European Champions Hockey League final for Geneva against Skelleftea to make it 3-1 in the first.

Live action here if any one wants to watch

Non-Hockey Chatter / Re: The Official TV Thread

I've watched a few of them. It's exactly what you'd expect but generally gets about 1 big belly laugh per episode, which is a decent hit rate.

It's not particularly politically correct. It does actually have a bit more about it too, in terms of trying to round out the characters

I'm watching the nascar Daytona 500. I watched the Netflix show and it kind of intrigued me.

But.

I'm not sure I quite get nascar yet. Are all the races on these oval banked tracks or do they have like F1 type circuits too?

I guess there's some kind of tactic to win this, but there was a massive crash so feels like there's a chunk of luck that you don't get wiped out in any crash too.

If McCann was a team player he'd have held that up for Matthews

Home in time to see Matthews get number 50

Quote from: herman on February 19, 2024, 07:32:53 AMWhat a weird hour to play this game. Nice for Arn though!

Not for the first time this season, they've had a nice evening face off on a night I have other stuff on :(

Should be back in time for the middle of the second period, though

Pretty cool name anyway. Rock star-ish.

Quote from: Rob on February 15, 2024, 09:29:38 PMYou know what every other team in the NHL needs? A Bertuzzi.

I have the feeling that if he did go elsewhere all of a sudden he'd score about 10 goals in 15 games.

As for that fight by Deslauriers, you could see Benoit was concerned about the fact he was stood with his skates either side of a prone player lying on the ice while Deslauriers came charging in with no regard for it. We've 2 stores of major skate cuts that led to or almost led to death in the last while. Why be so stupid.

Ah yes. He was offered an "in person" hearing which relates to the potential length of his ban but in person hearings are generally held not in person.

He did, however, actually opt to have his in person hearing in person, rather than over video conferencing. But cos of the weather he's now not having his in person hearing in person, but over video conferencing.

Even God is like, what is you doing, DoPS?
Why wouldn't they have done a virtual meeting in the first place?  Especially for first time offenders.
Not like Jack the Ripper who needs to be on the carpet.

Because Rielly requested it to be in person.
Is this true? This is the first time I have read that Rielly requested it be in person.

Yup

QuoteIt's notable Rielly elected to take the NHL up on its offer of an in-person meeting. He'll travel to New York with his agent (J.P. Barry of CAA Hockey), members of Leafs management and representatives from the NHL Players' Association to state his case.

Since the COVID pandemic, players have had the option to conduct "in-person" hearings remotely via Zoom and many of them have opted to take it, including Detroit Red Wings forward David Perron when he was suspended six games for cross-checking in December.

Rielly will apply a more personal touch.
