Game in Toronto has everyone but the 4th line rostered, with MacEwen and Pezzetta filling in there for obvious reasons.

Cowan is back with the main squad, and they're also carrying a full complement of available goons, while the NHL 4th line spearheads the effort in Ottawa

Liked McKennas game - every time he touches the puck he makes something happen. He'll only get better as he grows into the NHL game. Knies otoh looks a bit lost out there which is concerning. Also good on the B squad.
Hard to accurately predict what his ceiling is but he demonstrated some special gifts and you could hear the crowd reacting to them. Vision. Speed. Stick-handling. Hockey IQ, etc. 18 years old. Pretty special.

Games were with roughly 50% AHLers against roughly 50% AHLers so we have to keep that in mind.
Though the game in Toronto last night was mostly NHLers on the Leafs except for the 4th line.
In terms of goaltending over the 4 games, I didn't see a bad or soft goal.
Saw some good saves. It is a tough enough position to judge as it is.
Four games against 50% AHLers isn't enough to be very conclusive.

Of all the things that happened, I was mostly excited to see Matthews make a little toe drag and rip a shot from the slit that beat the goalie clean.

It was just preseason against the Belleville sens, but McKenna looked like a hybrid of Nylander’s skating/transition speed, Marner’s passing vision, a bit of Domi’s auto-centring, all powered by Cowan’s waterbug motor.
More impressive was just the Leafs coming at the sens in relentless waves. Much less overpassing, diligent backchecking, defensemen actually making puck plays. Too bad Paul left the game early but it did give some chemistry experiment time to the forward group.
L4 took it to the home team in Ottawa too. Zack McEwan might be taking Joshua’s spot, while he sorts out an apparent core injury.

The other thing about have a tougher bottom six is none of them are afraid to mix it up. I liked at the end when one of the Sens have Bob a tap they immediately converged. No hesitation.
Also why did Pezetta get a penalty on that hit? It looked shoulder on shoulder to me.

I think they believed Yakemchuk didn’t play the puck before he got sat down. Possibly out of pity. They didn’t call Stutzle for yet another dive and they ate their whistles when McKenna was tripped on an entry.
Nevertheless, fassthole hockey is back!

I think Knies - Paul - Sissons would work. If he insists on playing at fridge size, he should be putting people on ice, not trying to dangle off the boards. Cowan can be an annoying forechecker for one of the top 2 lines.
Yooooooo!!!! This one highlight has got me excited about the season. Vintage Matthews, the WHIP is back baby!
Nice to demolish OTT A-squad going into the season too! Bury that team before the season starts.

Totally agreed. He needs to show more if he wants to stay in the top 6 and might do well in a grindy big dude line like in NES Ice Hockey.
Five fights in the two games last night. Leafs did respectably in all of them
