I mean that sounds great, but then the Leafs are left plugging holes in the top 6. I don't know much about Rinzel but sounds like a good swap. I would still tear it down.

Just watching the toilet seats decimate the Sabres. They had a few years of crap but wow what a team and only going to get better.

And that's what management fails to understand. The fans are ok with an unfinished work in progress. We won't stand for directionlessness or nonsensical paths. Give us something to hope and cheer for.
 
The Leafs were 16th in GF in the league this season, and they were 31st in GA.

So they're going to need help on both sides of the puck.
 
The improvement plan is to convert a surplus of scoring/attractive forwards into mobile two-way defensemen at the beginning of their development curves to enable the high end scoring talent (that we already have) to get the puck in offensive opportunities more frequently and catalyze depth scoring.

It is way easier to get complementary forwards than play driving defense. You get way more depth scoring from the bottom six if they are supported by puck moving defense.
 
Going off sports radio/podcast rumours, word is San Jose is looking to move off the 2nd pick for more immediate help/address their need on the blue line.

Any chance something like this would work: San Jose 2026 - 1st round pick for Morgan Rielly, Ben Danford, and Colorado's 2027 - 1st round pick?

Prolly not enough to get it done.

Respectfully you're way, way, way off. A conversation for another top-4 pick doesn't happen without Knies involved.

In addition to what Carlton said, I think the Chicago pick at 4OA is more achievable if that's the route Chayka is angling for (should technically be cheaper too). He has extensive trading history with Chicago

To TOR: Elias Pettersson (6 yrs remaining, 11.6M AAV), 2026 2nd (SJS), + someone Brackett thinks is on the cusp in their system for taking on the extra $$

To: VAN: Morgan Rielly (4 yrs remaining, 7.5M AAV)

I wanted to throw in a cap dump, but other than Domi, we don't really have anything dumpy, and I'm not doing that to Domi at this stage.

The 2026 2nd (SJS) threw me. I thought you mean the second over all pick from San Jose. I was wondering how Vancouver was going to get that.
