NHL Draft 2026

I'd love to take a swing on the highest offensive upside or best skating defenceman possible, which from that list Axel Elofsson fits the bill.

Aside from that Xavier Villeneuve would be a bit of a dream pick, but he would need to slide hard to make it to our 2nd rounder (his rankings are all over the place).

Ethan MacKenzie and Tomas Galvas are two guys who have both been passed over in the last 2 drafts but coming off big seasons (including big WJC appearances) that should get them picked this time around. Those two might be more like 3rd round targets but we'll see.

The other guy who's jumped out at me after looking through some things is Luke Schairer: he's got NHL size and is a terrific skater, but the offence hasn't developed like some thought it would with the NDTP so the hope would be that's something that will develop better in the NCAA.

Do scouts agree it would be ridiculous to take anyone other than McKenna? Everyone here keeps saying that, but what do we know?

Nobody comes close to his level of skill and that's the hardest thing to acquire in the game

There is a lot of talk about other prospects being different types of players. But I've consumed a plethora of prospect stuff from scouts etc and nobody has close to the skill of McKenna, he could be the most natural playmaker in a few decades.
