2025 Blue Jays

If the post season were to begin today, the Jays would be rewarded with a bye to face… Yankees or Red Sox in the next round.

The AL East is mad.
 
Didn't matter at the end of the day, but that looked like Lukes probably would have caught the ball instead; it's a 3-run homer for TB.

WHEN the Jays do make the playoffs, I certainly hope the umpires stay the F out of the way. Some ridiculous calls against the Jays in the small sample size of Jay's playoff appearances since the 90's. We got a whole damn country backing this team. It's not a bad thing for the Jays to do well.
 
No, I’d be content to face them. Just think it’s a bit annoying to potentially get the first seed and end up still facing a team from within your division cos so many teams from your division make the post season.

If you know what I mean.

I get what you’re saying but they’re still getting a team that didn’t win their division. For the most part they’ll be getting a team with a lower win total than the other 2 division winners.

I’m not crazy about the mlb playoff format, but it’s still better than the bullshit NHL playoff seeding crap.

I'd say, ideally, your starter goes 6 innings and you have a separate, "go-to" pitcher for each of the 7,8,9 innings. Having a 'set up man & closer' situation used to be pretty common around baseball, both pitching and single inning. Not as much nowadays. More focus is put toward situational pitching.

Yea, and further to this point about situational pitching, it seems as though the Jays (or Schneider?) are very big on having a LHP facing a pivotal (and, for some reason, not so pivotal) LHB, which is why we tend to see so many pitching changes.

This irked me yesterday in particular, when a fresh Rodriguez was pitching well but taken out after 1 inning of work and only 12 pitches for an inferior LH reliever, who walks a TON and had already pitched the preceding day. Of course that reliever was wild, gave up a run, and, voila, a separate RHP reliever was brought in in the same inning. Just seems to be a lot of wasted moments like that; but somehow it seems to be working, so what do I know? :LOL:

Nah, you're not wrong. It does seem like Schneider is overthinking it sometimes.
 
Thanks gents, yah it just seems to me that you're kind of burning arms after a long season, and showing teams/batters your entire arsenal of pitching.
