Questions, questions, questions.  One thing is clear:  the LeafNation expects the Leafs to be much improved from last season.

Now, whether that will translate into the post-season remains to be seen.  If not, then, at least, if the Leafs improve this year, and come close to a playoff spot, say, 9th or 10th place, a few points off, many Leafian followers will sing the praises of Burke, Nonis, Wilson, et al.

I started this poll just for fun, to see what some of us are already thinking!  :)

Go on, place your ballots!!

Why would we do that?

Yeah, 9th/10th is sort of what I'm expecting so I'm not going to get all goofy and start singing simnply because they met my expectations. hf1 - if you're expecting a 14th/15th type finish then yeah, I kind of get what you were saying but to each their own I suppose.

Carlton, I'm not going you a Christmas bonus, instead I'm going to give you a subscription to Jelly of the Month.  If the Leafs miss the playoffs again, Wilson's fired/not brought back and Burke will have to start looking over his shoulder.

Completely agreed.

...er, about the second part at least.

I agree... Wait... Wilson fired/not brought back PLUS our own 1st round pick? Tank Nation lives!!!

Middle of the pack IF Reimer plays like last season.

And IF the PP and Pk improve and IF Grabs line stays hot anf IF Kessels line starts to produce the way it should. Still alot of IFS.

Right now I think 10th is more realistic prediction - they need to be in a playoff spot by the end of November to finish any better otherwise it's bound to be another scramble to 9th or 10th.

Every team has most of those IFs.

IMHO I really think that Washington, Pittsburgh and Montreal will have drop offs this season.

Really? You expect Pittsburgh to have a worse season this year than last, despite injuries to all of Crosby, Malkin and Staal last season, as well as PIT now having wingers for Crosby and Malkin (Neal, Sullivan)?

I'm surprised.

I cant see that being possible either unless they are all out of the lineup for longer than last year

I don't see Crosby being the player that he was. INMO I see the concussion(s) slowing him down.
Malkin is coming off a pretty bad injury as well.

Don't get me wrong they will make the playoffs but i really don't see any dominant teams out of the east except for Boston, of course.

Where is the option for worse than 10th, but not rock bottom?

You mean between 12th-13th spot?  I was trying to maintain a sense of cautious optimism, or rather,  being "optimistically cautious".  :)
