The Rise of Skywalker (spoilers!)

A very good breakdown of the Star Wars movie that split the fanbase

the Rise of Skywalker premiered last night, so good luck using the internet!

Saw it last night as an obligation to family; I was prepared to suffer through it based on the reviews, and it had some nonsensical plot holes and cringy moments, but was fast paced and the visuals were terrific.
Enjoyable enough, and it certainly looks like they've wrapped it up to the point it can't be rebooted yet again. Well, one can hope, anyway.

Yeah I mean I just felt half the movie was a fetch quest that failed miserably but really I don't have anything invested so I thought it wasn't any worse than most "blockbuster" type films.

I enjoyed it a lot. Obviously, it?s not perfect, but I felt is was a very fitting ending for the saga. Going to be interesting to see who/what the next set of Star Wars movies is going to be about. They definitely left an opening with Lando?s conversation with Jannah.

If they're going to do something about that let it be a TV show or something. If/when they do another actual set of Star Wars movies I don't think it should have anything to do with this time line/these characters.

I agree. It was fine. It was sloppy and disjointed. They had to try to cram two movies worth of storylines into one. It went about as well as then ending to a trilogy could with a gaping hole in the middle.

I?m still hoping for Old Republic material

This is pretty much how I felt about it for, oh, basically the entire running time. I couldn't believe how awful the dialogue was and how many lame and cheesy jokes/bits there were. It was fast paced, granted, which is probably the only compliment I can give this movie. There was no plot whatsoever. It might even be worse than Phantom Menace.

I can?t agree it was worse than the phantom menace. But it feels like it was a follow up to The Force Awakens rather than The Last Jedi, if that makes sense?

But it was entertaining and flew by and really it?s a western in space fantasy kind of thing so I don?t look too deeply into it. I?m happy to be entertained and I was.

And I lolled at the Ewoks cameo.

I saw it with the missus last night. I didn?t think it was too bad. I thought the ending was decent and they avoided the goofy/irrelevant stuff.

I?m surprised by some of the hate it?s receiving.

I think this is where the frustration with this movie is stemming from. Note, I still haven't seen it (yet? I probably will because I'm a completionist.).

It sounds like it suffered from a lot of the issues that plague Snyder/Abrams/Bay type films (and GoT S6-8).

Disney+ is streaming this on May 4th

Speaking of Star Wars day, I started binging Clone Wars (and Rebels) while in baby mode and then the 7th and final season of Clone Wars cropped up and its finale is dropping on May 4th as well.

Clone Wars is one of those rare birds that actually elevates and maybe reinforces how poorly-executed the prequel series was (very similar to GoT, where the showrunners just wanted to pull off technical feats). The series was overseen by Dave Filoni, heir apparent to George Lucas, who is also currently working on The Mandalorian and a potential follow-up series to Rebels (post-fall of the Empire).

Check out this behind the scenes of the upcoming big duel

Rise of Skywalker was... certainly exciting but nonsensical and mostly nostalgic echoes. Like Force Awakens but more contrived.

Clone Wars finale arc was mad dope and I wish Filoni had more of a hand in the movies.

The black bars on the bottom of Anakin?s lightsabre was made from trimmed pieces of windshield wipers.

I can?t believe they reused the portals scene from Endgame. And swiped Avatar: the Last Airbender?s thing.

I made the mistake of showing Phantom Menace to my partner.  She had not seen any Star Wars and decided she wanted to watch them 1 through 9.  We may have hit our limit....man watching it again for the first time in a few years it is a really bad movie.

I gave up on Star Wars in general mid way through Episode 2. They should've just left the original trilogy alone.

It entertained me for the nostalgic reasons. However I agree with your link to TFA. I actually thought The Last Jedi had set it up to take it in a nice direction but as it happens TLJ may as well not have happened...

Ya, we watched all of the movies with our son last month. It was so bad. I feel bad for the actors.

I'm not defending Hayden Christensen's awful performance, but in fairness, they even managed to make Samuel Jackson terrible.
