Series 32: Royals at Jays

Hutchison is SO bad. As happy as I am with all the moves I'm a little disappointed they couldn't get another starter to bump him out of the rotation.

Basically how I feel about Loup in the pen. He blew it AGAIN tonight! How is he not in Buffalo?

While I share the Loup sentiment, he didn't really blow it tonight. Donaldson did.

I'm down on Loup as anyone but that play had nothing to do with Loup.  He gave up a weak grounder that was thrown for a 2-bag fielding error.

I guess this is why, traditionally, you don't talk about who "blew it" in the 6th inning.

Lowe comes in and gives up 3 runs in his Blue Jays debut.

7-5 Royals

He came in with 4 ER and an ERA of 1.00 on the season.  He leaves the game today with 7 ER and a 1.70 ERA.  His numbers really weren't sustainable coming from Seattle.

Bautista leads off the bottom half with a home run and then Encarnacion flys out at the wall against Wade Davis.

Wolf is one big gigantic piece of garbage.  Donaldson gets hit in the 1st inning.  He calls a warning on both teams.  Tulowitzski gets hit on the wrist in the 8th and then a pitch gets thrown at Donaldson's head (got away from Madsen).  Gibbons gets thrown out.

Bottom of the 8th, Sanchez throws a pitch down the middle of the plate that Wolf calls a ball.  Next pitch gets away from him and Wolf throws him out.  Absolute bush league.

Wow.  He does it again in the bottom of the 8th.  Calling Donaldson out on strikes on a ball absolutely nowhere near the plate.  Does a fancy strikeout dance and then takes his mask off and stares at Donaldson.

Bring on the robots

We took three games from the best team in the AL while overcoming the worst umpires in baseball?

I am impressed.

Edit: getting caught up now on the latter inning officiating. I saw the first Donaldson HBP (borderline) and then the brush back the second time up (baller bat flip off the walk). The umpire handed out that first inning warning and basically put everyone on edge the whole game.

Then that fastball up the middle called ball on Sanchez was just hilarious. I'm surprised the fans didn't revolt.

If this is what meaningful baseball is like in August, meaningful baseball in September is going to be awesome.  Price's debut game tomorrow is sold out.

I think it firmly has shown that I need to lose weight, eat better ramp up my cardio and get on a healthy regimen of cardiac medications if Toronto ever gets it together and has all three teams playing meaningful games during the same year.

I was at that game. That umpire has no idea what he's doing to keep order in the game. He didn't toss one Royal when we had far more players either hit by pitches or almost hit by pitches. He throws out Sanchez on intent, but why was there no intent on the Royals pitchers? Cheap moves by a cheap team with horrible calls by the umpire to match. I booed half the game.
