BUF
?Devon Levi (6-4-2, 3.27 GAA, .892 Sv%) will likely start for the Sabres
?Buffalo is coming off of an embarrassing 9-4 loss against Columbus on Tuesday night
?Tage Thompson's 7 year, $50mil contract is off to a rough start in year 1. He has just 8 goals and 16 points in 24 games this season, which is well off from his 47 goal, 94 point performance in 22/23

TOR
?Ilya Samsonov (5-1-5, 3.51 GAA, .878 Sv%) will likely start for the Leafs

Like Ottawa, Buffalo is another team that just on paper looks like they should be better than their record shows.

I don't keep an eye on Buffalo, does it come down to goaltending with them?

Partly goaltending, partly underperforming offence.

This feels like one of those games where the Sabres come out with something to prove and the Leafs fall flat on their face.

Never seem to get up for the games against them. Hopefully they come out hard from the get go. Should be 2 points. Hopefully Jones is in again if not it's a crapshoot.

Looks like some changes on D. Benoit comes in for Lagesson, while Liljegren and Brodie swap spots in the top-4.

Samsonov exited practice first so he's the projected starter.

Makes all the sense in the world to cycle through the bottom, and see if Liljegren can mesh with Rielly long-term. Spares us from watching Brodie kill an OZ cycle, but let's him focus on killing a DZ cycle. Wouldn't hurt to even push Brodie to shepherd Timmins if Benoit/Lagesson-McCabe is not a disaster.

If the Leafs can somehow add to the defence to get Brodie on the bottom pairing with a Benoit/Lagesson I think that will be very beneficial to the team.

This would leave Giordano on the bench/7th d-man. 😕

I've tried to be a voice of reason and not criticize Samsonov incessantly but he's making it really hard.

I'm done with Sammy.

I was done with him last year. When your desperate and cap space is limited this is what you get.Another Dubas f up never addressing the goaltending and limiting any options.

They need to do something about this guy. Conditioning stint to the Marlies, put him on waivers, something. Samsonov isn't an NHL goalie at this point
