Rookie Tournament Roster

Leafs announced their roster for the rookie tournament in September, no surprises of course but it's a nice showcase of the talent we've put together recently:

Interesting that Soshnikov is on there, think that means he will play for the Marlies?

I seem to remember there was some doubt as to whether he'd come over this season.

You might be thinking of someone else (maybe that Russian defencemen who we didn't actually end up signing, Zaitsev). It was pretty clear that Soshnikov would be leaving the KHL.

You might be thinking of someone else (maybe that Russian defencemen who we didn't actually end up signing, Zaitsev). It was pretty clear that Soshnikov would be leaving the KHL.

Yeah, I seem to recall maybe his Russian coach saying he should stay in Russia for one more year, or he had one more year on his Russian deal or something.

Ah, yeah, I think that his Russian coach (and team) wasn't exactly thrilled about the move and said some things like that. But yeah his KHL deal is up so there's nothing tying him there.

I'm partial to MiMa (mee-maw) or MarnDog and Will Nye the Hockey Guy (or any variation of Snizz, Snizzy, Snizzles, Snazzy-Snizz). Gonna need more nicknames for the others because some of their names are hard for me to spell from memory.

Is there an update on Martins Dzierkals status and if he will be playing in the QMJHL this season and participating in the Rookie Tournament? Also, with the August 15 deadline passed and no official word from the Leafs, I am assuming the Max Everson is now a free agent and no longer Leaf property?

Yes, according to Rouyn's coach he is training in Toronto and will report to the team next week.

Yep.  Tony Cameranesi and Max Everson officially lapsed out of Leafs property on the 15th.
