Remembering Sakura

Unless I'm mistaken, we lost m-gro 6 years ago today.  I think we all still miss the hell out of her.

I'll never forget reading about it on the front page and how my heart sank.

It feels like so long ago, yet it also feels like yesterday.

We miss you Sakura. :(

RIP m-gro. I wasn't really a regular poster before she passed, but I still remember how devastated the boards were when the news came. I was brought to tears reading everyone's messages to her. She was clearly an incredible person who is still missed today.

I joined the site just after her passing, it was obvious then that her life had made a profound impact on many of the members here. It's a beautiful thing to see people here embracing her spirit.

One of the first things I thought of when the bare bones site came back up was not seeing that m-gro handle on the complaint thread.

She's still here in spirit and memory.

I too still remember the day I logged on here to find out. I remember opening the thread expecting it to be about her big move to the US :( She is still missed by many that is for sure :(

I'm in the same boat... My thoughts exactly.

I remember her. Very thoughtful person from what I could gather. I didn't know her as well as some others here, but she was special....found this pic...there's a happy Leafs Fan!

It's heart-warming to know how the human spirit lives on in the lives of others who never even knew or had ever met Sakura Handa, which would include me.  Wish I could have bantered with her online, because from what I've read, she is described a someone warm, encompassing, and compassionate.  The world needs more Sakura Handas.

Rest in peace, gentle soul.

:'( Thank you for posting this.

She was a truly amazing and wonderful person and I miss her terribly.  She is always in my thoughts and I'm a better person for having known her.  Wishing you were with us still Sakura.  We miss you friend!

What a tremendous loss of a wonderful person.

Can't believe it's been six years. I remember Darryl's devastating instant message on MSN. Then I authored the front page bulletin to tell everyone of the tragedy; phoning a few posters who knew her well, but aren't "daily" posters.  It was a day I'll never forget, for all the wrong reasons.

We've still kept her tribute page on our site:

As for the tree that we planted in her memory in Rennie Park, thanks to donations from many of you, I last visited it in May on the day of what would have been her 43rd birthday. It seems to be doing quite well!  :)

Miss you lots, Sakura!

I think everyone was blown away with the news back then.

I remember that even when I argued with Sakura, she's probably the only person that ever made me think............wait a minute, maybe I'm the idiot here. She just had a way of doing that without even trying.

From the few PM's that I had with her, she was a sweet girl with wisdom way beyond her years.

Anyway, just wanted to say that it was very classy for all involved to keep a sticky thread for her in a temporary forum.

Well done.

I joined the site after M-Gro had left, but I always felt like I really missed the chance of conversing with someone special.
