SDA leaving is a tough break for the Marlies but I think his NHL odds were still fairly low. He's probably 2 years away at best anyway so maybe playing in the KHL would be good for his development and the Leafs can revisit him when he's 24.

It's a flipping scrimmage and Dillingham doesn't even go to check on him.  The hit itself isn't a head hit but it's a team on team scrimmage, absolutely no reason for a hit like that on a potential teammate

The guy is undrafted and trying to make an impression. Unless they were told not to hit, I have absolutely no issue with it. Wick said as much, clean hit.
Roni needs to get his head up.
These guys are fighting for future jobs and you can bet it's game on our there.

Solid hit, bad result. The injury was from the ice impact.

I wish it didn?t happen, but I can see why it did, for all the reasons GT outlined. Even if the Leafs aren?t fans of it, another NHL club will surely sit up and take note.

I hope Hirvonen has no lasting damage and becomes a better player as a result.

How is Roni Hirvonen doing after taking that hit?

Wickenheiser: He is okay. He has a concussion. He will need some time to recover. He is a very tough human. He is a tough person.

That was a very big hit. It was a clean hit. It was a good hit by Dillingham there. For every single player, over your career, you always take a hit like that. It happens to everyone. You never want to see it in a game scenario like this.

I think we all just held our breath a little bit. The fact that he was able to get up and off the ice is a good sign. I think he will be fine with some time.
