What? That's just 16 year old being a 16 year old.  ;]

I feel like trying my hand at iOS development, so I was thinking I could make a Guitar Handbook type app.  For the guitarists among us, what would you want in an iPhone app?

- Chord references
- Scale references
- Metronome
- Allow you to slow down parts of songs from your library (if you're trying to learn a fast part)
- A tuner would be good, although I've never dealt with audio input through a microphone before, so I'll have to do some more research on that
- Tabs maybe, although that would probably involve coming to an agreement with a tab website.  Also, it seems the legality of guitar tabs is somewhat in doubt, so I don't know if Apple would go for it.

Anything else you think would come in handy?

If you can slow down a song without having the pitch or quality of sound affected...that would be sweet. I only have one program that does this and it costs a bunch of money...that would be the #1 thing I would find useful though.

Alternate fingerings and extensions for chords would be cool...dunno how much I'd actually use that, but it would be interesting/potentially useful. Or rootless voicings or something. Rather than just offering the standard block shapes. Those chord charts aren't helpful to me anymore...if I use those shapes my profs yell at me haha.

But ya, being able to slow down the track while not compromising the quality or pitch of the track would be awesome.

I have a tough time remembering which chords are which.  I've memorized the fingerings of a ton of chords, but I wouldn't be able to tell you what they are.  A by product of learning from guitar tabs, I guess.  Like, I can play it fine, but if you asked me to play an A chord, I'd have to look up which one that was before doing it.  Chord references come in really handy for me.

Yeah, the slowing down tracks feature may be a bit of a project.  Transcribe! is the one I have that does it, and it ain't cheap.  I've got a couple ideas of how I could do it though, I'll see how it works out.

Big, all-purpose commendation to Bob Marley and Sublime.  It's impossible to be bummed when you listen to them.

Santeria and Jammin' is the perfect antidote for this god awful weather.l

Any hip hop fans? If you could buy 1 new album..."Watch the Throne" with Kanye and Jay-z? or Bad meets Evil?

I picked up watch the throne yesterday. Along with the newest wu-tang and royce albums. I have no interest in eminem anymore. All he does is yell and sound angry in all his songs now. Too repetitive, i like the old funny slim shady.

I'd probably lean Bad meets Evil. Both are good albums and I'd recommend both but I think Watch the Throne indulges in both Kanye and Jay-Z's bad habits a little. Bad meets Evil is the sharpest Eminem has sounded in years now that he's finally stopped trying to appeal to 11 year olds with his singles.

Well, of the 3 cd's I grabbed, Wu-Tang - Legendary Weapons crushes both Watch the Throne and Success is Certain. I highly recommend to any old school hip hop lovers.
