Hockey News: Report: Maple Leafs Prospect Fraser Minten Traded From WHL's Kamloops Blazers to Saskatoon Blades
The Blazers will be getting "multiple" first-round picks in return for Minten, according to Sportsnet's Jeff Marek. Kamloops is currently second-last in all of the WHL, while Saskatoon is fourth overall. The 19-year-old currently has 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in seven WHL games this season.

This trade should allow Minten to play in some important games come the spring.

My son called this one about a week ago. Best thing to happen to Minten. Kamloops is rebuilding so he goes to a team with cards on the table.

Wasn't he the captain of Kamloops?

Yep. He was the big fish in a very small and bad pond.  His stats are very meh for a returning 19 year old coming off NHL games (10 points in 7 games) but he is the only PPG player on his team.  Every single player on the team is a net minus player.  Kamloops was bad.  He now gets to play with fellow Leafs draft pick Brandon Lisowsky (7th round 2022)

Minten?s brother is still in Kamloops. The Blazers also pick up another hometown kid in Jordan Keller.

I'm sure it's all good...I just thought it was odd that when he got returned to the team, they make him captain, then they trade him like a month later.

High-profile 19 year old junior players get traded from non-competing teams to contenders like clockwork. So there was basically a 0% chance Minten was finishing the season with Kamloops and they knew that even when he was named captain. Being traded literally 7 games after that is probably a little odd but I can't imagine it's anything to read into.
