Leafs Front Office 2026 | Official: Sundin & Chayka to lead front office

Gotta give Overdrive credit. They asked very good questions in a professional way and let him answer. Very good interview. I've said it before, I don't care about his past failures/successes. All that matters is what he does for the Leafs.
I think we all gave Tre a chance even tho many thought he wasn't the right guy so Chayka gets the same. I hope he proves the haters wrong.

Hey is Jay Woodcroft available soon?
I still think he got a raw deal in Edm. I also think he had a big part in game planning to beat the Oilers. There was one clip when the Ducks scored and took the lead...the bench was going crazy but Woody was focused watching the Oiler players reactions as they went to the bench.
Anyway I don't know if he's the right guy, but I believe he isn't the wrong guy, like I did when Berube was hired.

I think Chayka did a great job of answering those questions and saying nothing.

That's an artform, but I do think he said some things of note.

The main thing that caught my attention was Chayka knows he's out of the loop a bit and is more focused on building up and out the organization and letting those experts flourish in their fields, and help the various departments bridge their discussions/decisions (horizontally aligning their verticals), so it's pretty clear why Pelley picked him even without the true hockey bona fides fans are craving from the GM role. It's similar to what attracted me to the Gillis plan, and here the role is just held at the GM title.
