That's what I am referring to. Media are sharks and will take any scraps they can get. It's just the amount of information or misinformation that is being floated around is surprising.

I take it as an index of how surprisingly awful things are right now. If Tie Domi and the suit’s golf buddy are indeed sitting opposite Pelley in the situation room and setting the direction of the front office, that is surprising, and it’s unsurprising that smart folks who’ve been with the team a long time would be sounding the alarm.
 
I will be extremely whelmed if this is move but honestly my first stance on whether I give them a chance is what they do with Berube. If they keep him, I'm out. If they fire him at least I'm going to be paying attention to what happens

Truthfully I don't know how much of a fan I can be of the team if it's being run by Chayka.
 
I’m trying to retain a small sense of hope that after all the leaks the upper management have decided to feed fake info internally and let it leak to hide their true intentions of who they actually plan to hire.

And then when the announcement comes it’ll be a load of unexpected amazing names that haven’t even been mentioned in the press.

But I think it’ll be the actual leaked info and worst possible outcome. Cos it’s the Leafs and that’s how they roll.
 
This is a return to the joke the Leafs were in the 80s. Respect to Mats in a
huge way and he can be involved but we’re dealing with a multi billion dollar
company/iconic franchise and we’re asking someone with a very dubious
history to lead the Leafs? Chayka would have to be the de facto GM.

This isn’t going to instill any confidence in any fan let alone #34.

I’ve been thru the “wars” with this team since the 70’s and it took Cliff Fletcher
to start giving this franchise some respect. We went thru some wobbly years
again but this team finally was returned to the respect the franchise deserved thru
the last 10 years. No it didn’t succeed….yes I’m disappointed but really enjoyed
watching superstars like we hadn’t had for decades…

Now excluding Mats, we have returned to a clown show.

Listen, Leafs fans of a certain age love Sundin, great player, had some amazing playoff runs with him and all that. He's been living in Sweden for over a decade now, been totally out of hockey. Like what credentials does Sundin even have to be a team executive?? People trying to equate this to Shanahan - but at least Shanahan was working in the NHL before he became president, as far as I can tell, Sundin has just been chilling. This makes no sense at all. The combo of Sundin with no experience, and a boob snake oil guy like Chayka?? This is bonkers. How the hell have the Leafs reverted to joke status?? This is truly like the 80s again.
 
Two weeks ago Mike Gillis was on the cusp of being hired, until he wasn't.

Let's, you know, wait to see what actually happens rather than stressing over clickbait artists.
 
Chayka certainly wouldn’t be my first choice, but I can’t judge him too harshly for his time with the Coyotes, since, you know, they’re the Coyotes. Hopefully, with a more stable ownership situation and better resources, he’ll be able to show the promise people once thought he had.
