Level of accomplishments aside, this is a fair comparison:

Top of the draft year picks with hype and hooplah going back to when they were 12 (and maybe younger).

They both play the quintessential 4th line grinder style game of puck holding below the circles, and cycling into chances out front in the midst of chaos, with 1st line finishing talent. Where Crosby stands out is his skating is quite a bit better than Tavares' on straightaway speed, and has a bigger hockey booty. They both elevate the players around them with ease because they're so skilled they adapt their games to suit their wingers' strengths and weaknesses.

Both have the same public persona too, probably trained at the School of Tepid Oatmeal.
